SCDA Library - Important News

Our national script library has been housed at Summerhall Arts Centre in Edinburgh since 2013, at a very reasonable rate. This has now come to an unexpected end, and we have been informed by Summerhall that the monthly charge will quadruple from next month. This means it is no longer affordable to retain the library on these premises, and we are urgently looking for an alternative solution.

We are hoping to find an institution, such as a university or library, where all 25,000 scripts can be kept intact and accessible. If that doesn't prove possible, other options will be considered.

This news has come as a huge blow to the Association, not least Alison McCallum and her team, and we are extremely grateful for the service they have provided over many years.

We have had to apply a tight timetable as follows:

  • FromTuesday 23 April:The library will be closed to new loans
  • ByTuesday 7 May:All loaned items to be returned.

We will keep members informed via this Newsletter, and a further update will appear in the next issue. Until 7 May, the library will remain open on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm - 6pm, contact details:
