We act as a point of contact for drama clubs and individuals within Edinburgh District, offering them advice, encouragement and practical support. Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) was formed in 1926 to further amateur drama throughout Scotland with particular emphasis on rural communities where no theatre existed. Edinburgh District covers Edinburgh, part of the Lothians and all Scottish Borders clubs. The district is one of four districts within the Eastern Division. There are four divisions.
We are part of the larger Association, the National Office of which acts as a central hub, providing advice and supporting the network of clubs and members, encouraging playwriting, providing an advisory service on all aspects of theatre, and organising a range of training workshops and festivals. Our district is one of five districts within the Eastern Division. There are four divisions, Northern, Highland, Eastern and Western. Our National Organisation has its own web site which can be found here
