About

ABOUT  SCDA  EDINBURGH DISTRICT

We act as a point of contact for drama clubs and individuals within Edinburgh District, offering them advice, encouragement, and practical support.

Our main role is the Organisation of the Annual One Act Festival's for our District normally held in February of each year

Edinburgh District covers Edinburgh, East, Mid and West Lothian and all Scottish Borders and has a number of clubs and individual members .

The district is one of four districts within the Eastern Division. The others being Falkirk, Fife & Stirling

We are part of the larger Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA). This was formed in 1926 to further amateur drama throughout Scotland with particular emphasis on rural communities where no theatre existed. The National Office based in Stirling acts as a central hub, providing advice and supporting the network of clubs and members, encouraging playwriting, providing an advisory service on all aspects of theatre, and organising a range of training workshops and festivals. There are four divisions, Northern, Highland, Eastern and Western.

The National Organisation has its own web site which can be found here
